Cabinetry

It would be embarrassing if I told you how long I let my children play in this cabinet today.

Even though little H's eyes are closed in this picture - I love it! They played peek-a-boo forever and laughed hysterically at one another.

Owl Pops

I am a big fan of Bakerella, if you don't know who she is check out her blog. I recently bought her book and picked out the special little cake pops I wanted to try first from her book. The owls. I waited till I had an event to attend so that I could make them for someone other than us.

The verdict...they turned out "okay." These take a LOT of time. There are a lot of steps and aside from the first step of just baking the cake, I did all the rest of the steps without taking a break. Big mistake for me...I didn't finish until midnight and I was tired and I think the cake pops turned out sloppy. Next time, I will make sure I break them up into steps over a longer period of time. I learned a lot though and overall thought they turned out pretty well.

Now go make your own!

Date Night

Mark and I went on a date. Not just any date but an overnight Date. Wahooo!!! We have been out a few times since we brought home Hannah (04/10) but we have limited our night time outings due to Hannah's excessive crying at bed time. She has slowly been decreasing the crying time and now almost no crying --but she started out at 2 hours. Yes, 2 hours of crying from our sweet little girl for many months. Yikes! So over the last few weeks we have embraced the kindness of some of our dear friends who are kind enough to love on our kids while we are not here.

We left around 2:3o on Saturday and drove down to Denver. We stayed at a hotel near the 16th street mall - that had a milk&cookie bar --how cool is that?! We ate at Corridor 44 - a neat little Champagne Bar Restaurant in Larimer Square. It was sooooo good. I had a Strawberry Sunrise Champagne Cocktail, a prosciutto-green apple-brie sandwich, and Parmesan truffle fries. It was heaven on a plate.

We also got to go to a Comedy Club - this was my first time! We saw Charlie Murphy (Eddie Murphy's brother). He was pretty funny. Best of all, I loved just sitting next to my husband and listening to him laugh.

The kids did great and spent some time with 2 of our friends that they LOVE.

What a blessed time! The thing I loved most about this weekend away with Mark was that I just got to focus on the man I love.

Cracker Monster

C is for Cookie. More specifically Cookie Monster. We know this guy too, and carry the "Cookie" figurine around the house with Elmo and Big Bird all in our Elmo bucket. While J says Cookie when referring to the figurine, every time I have given Jack a cookie he proudly says "Cracker." Ah, he will get it someday...especially if I start actually giving him crackers instead of cookies.

Anyways, Grandpa posed with Cookie after he heard how much we liked the "Elmo picture."

Thanks Grandpa! Hope you and Gigi had a good time in NYC and Boston!

Love this little guy

Both H & J LOVE Elmo. The only tv they ever really get to watch is Elmo's world, aside from the occassional football on the weekends with their Dad. We have a good assortment of Elmo toys, Elmo slippers, and pajamas! They love him.

So it was no surprise that they loved seeing this picture of their Gigi with Elmo!

Thanks Mom for taking this pic with Elmo!

Practice practice practice

I am forcing myself to shoot in manual mode on my camera. It is something at this point I still have to really think about. This weekend my encouraging husband suggested we get out of the house a couple times to go take pictures. These are some of my favorites.

The next few Mark took. I love that this isn't even our bike the kids are playing with at the playground. The kids confiscated it from a sweet little unsuspecting girl.

Fort Cake

I had this cake I wanted to make and no one to make it for. Our good friend and old roommate was in town and we were invited to her sister's house for dinner and a visit. I was taking dessert and decided to make this cake since the house we were going to has 3 cute little guys (age 7, 3, and 1). We were on our way out the door when I remembered to take a picture, so here it is the Fort Cake...
